ECC Veterinary Technician (Overnight Shift)

Position Overview
The Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician plays a central role in triage, nursing care, technical procedures, anesthesia support, and communication within our busy ECC department. You’ll work closely with clinicians, assistants, and fellow technicians to provide life-saving care and ensure smooth service flow throughout the unit. This position is ideal for technicians who enjoy fast-paced specialty medicine, critical thinking, and hands-on, high-quality patient care.
Available Schedules
Overnight Shifts
- Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Saturday: 9pm–7am (4 days, 40 hours)
- Rotating overnight schedule: 7pm–7am (3 days, 36 hours)
Shifts include a standard unpaid meal break.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Assessment
- Perform triage and assess patient stability
- Recognize abnormal heart/lung sounds, signs of shock, pain, and decompensation
- Complete and document all treatment orders accurately
- Administer parenteral medications, IV fluids, and CRIs
- Provide recumbent and post-operative nursing care
- Administer and monitor blood transfusions
Technical Procedures
- Venipuncture in canine and feline patients
- Peripheral and central catheter placement
- Bandage application
- Urinary catheter placement in male and female canine patients
- Cystocentesis and nasal cannula placement
- Radiographic positioning and exposure
- Collect and handle laboratory samples
- Perform CPR as needed
Anesthesia Support
- Induce and monitor patients undergoing emergent or routine anesthetic procedures
- Monitor equipment and patient status throughout anesthetic events
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with clinicians, support staff, and clients
- Maintain accurate medical records and nursing notes
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment
General Duties
- Support stocking, inventory, and equipment care
- Assist with laundry and maintain cleanliness in ECC clinical areas
- Maintain CE requirements for credentialing
- Participate in rotating holiday schedules
Qualifications
- At least 1 year as a Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty or ECC medicine
- Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
- Ability to lift more than 50 pounds
- Detail-oriented with a collaborative mindset
- Comfortable handling dogs, cats, and small exotic pets
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling
- Exposure to aggressive or stressed animals, zoonotic diseases, and hazardous materials
- Emotional resilience when caring for critically ill patients
Drug test and background check are required.
Pay: $29.00 - $38.00 per hour
