Practice Resources, LLC is seeking an experienced Family Practice and/or Internal Medicine Coder to join our team. This is a fully remote position. Pay range for this position is $18.00-$30.00 per hour.
Job Description
•
Monitor and validate charge capture using CPT, HCPCS Level II, and ICD-10-CM codes.
•
Review medical documentation from physicians and other healthcare providers to assign appropriate modifiers, diagnosis codes, and procedure codes for symptoms, diseases, injuries, surgeries, and treatments in accordance with official coding guidelines and standards.
•
Apply coding expertise to split/shared visits, preventive services, transitional care management, chronic care management, behavioral health services, in-office procedures, and any other services that require coding.
•
Communicate coding guidelines to physicians and other healthcare providers to improve the accuracy and completeness of medical record documentation.
•
Maintain a thorough understanding of National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits and relative value units as appropriate for the role.
•
Understand and support Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer workflows related to daily coding, denial reviews, appeals management, and preparation of supporting documentation for the appeals process.
•
Use relevant policies, procedures, and professional judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
•
Work independently, manage multiple priorities, solve problems, and make informed, accurate recommendations to medical professionals based on current coding guidance.
•
Participate in coding team meetings and serve as a subject matter expert.
•
Maintain productivity standards for assigned work types while upholding company accuracy expectations.

Qualifications
•
Certification through AAPC or AHIMA is required.
•
Minimum of three years of coding experience in family practice and/or internal medicine.
•
Thorough knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.
•
Thorough understanding of coding resources, including CPT, HCPCS Level II, and ICD-10-CM.
•
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
