The teacher will assist high school students with securing an internship by understanding their interests, researching opportunities, building partnerships, assisting with resumes and applications, preparing for interviews, providing resources, monitoring progress, and encouraging reflection on their experience.
● Valid Texas teaching certificate in CTE
● Three or more years’ successful classroom teaching experience, preferably in CTE courses
● Previous work experience in student work-based learning or student internships preferred
● Must have completed appropriate training in state and federal requirements regarding work-based learning and safety
● Research companies and assess viability as a sponsor for professional internships
● Call on area business leaders to secure student placements in professional/ managerial level internships; including cold calling
● Conduct student interviews to assess student skills/ experience for success in desired placement
● Conduct site visits at sponsoring companies to evaluate student performance and ensure sponsor satisfaction
● Manage PIP budget to include sponsor appreciation dinner at the end of each semester
● Report sponsor feedback to appropriate district personnel regarding student “work readiness” skills
