Job Summary
We are seeking a part-time floater and on-call substitute teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children in a nurturing environment. This role involves supporting the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans, managing classroom activities, and fostering an engaging learning atmosphere for young children. The float position is 3 days/week on the Boerne ISD school calendar.
Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate lesson plans that promote education and overall development.
- Support classroom management by maintaining a positive and structured environment conducive to learning.
- Engage with children during activities, providing guidance and encouragement to foster their growth and development.
- Provide opportunities and support for children to develop self-discipline and regulation skills.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
- Maintain confidentiality of children and family information.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with young children is preferred, but we will train the right candidate.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff.
- Must be able to lift and comfort a young child (up to 40 lbs.) and get up and down from the floor; must be able to carry 25 lbs.
- Ability to manage classroom dynamics and support children with diverse needs.
- A genuine passion for early childhood education and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
- Relevant certifications or coursework in early childhood education is a plus.
