Join our dynamic team as a Sales Floor Associate/Assistant lead in the Grocery department! As an assistant lead, you support the department manager by overseeing daily stocking, managing inventory, training team members, and ensuring a welcoming environment for shoppers. It is a fast-paced role that balances hands-on physical labor with floor leadership and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Stocking & Merchandising: Unload trucks, unpack cases, and stock shelves in freezers, dairy cases, and coolers. Rotate items using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method to ensure freshness.
- Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels, pull damaged or expired items, and notify management of out-of-stock products.
- Food Safety & Sanitation: Ensure display cases meet state and local health regulations. Routinely monitor and record case temperatures, and maintain a clean backroom and sales floor.
- Customer Service: Assist shoppers by locating items, answering product-related questions, and maintaining a welcoming environment.
- Pricing: Ensure accurate pricing tags, shelf labels, and signage are placed correctly.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting: Regularly lift and carry heavy items (typically up to 25 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs).
- Mobility: Stand and walk for the duration of a scheduled shift; bend, stoop, and reach into deep freezers.
- Temperature Exposure: Work in high-moisture rooms, refrigerated coolers, and sub-zero freezers for extended periods.
Qualifications & Skills
- Basic Skills: Basic math and the ability to read inventory labels and simple instructions.
- Availability: Willingness to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Soft Skills: Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with other departments and store leadership.
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
