Overview: Horizon Farm Credit is actively recruiting for an experienced Agribusiness Credit Analyst to join our team. The hours of operation are typically, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule. Position Description: In this position, you will serve as a confident financial professional through the delivery of sound credit and financial services within regulations and policies. Accurately and efficiently analyzes and underwrites loans in a sound manner to prospective and existing borrowers. Works closely with loan officers to structure, condition, and approve credits for our borrowers. Develops relationships with large or complex customers to more accurately and efficiently analyze the credit. Works independently with minimal supervision and is capable of underwriting relationships (including complex and distressed credits) of up to $10 million with some feedback from approvers. Provides leadership in alignment with management. Acts as mentor, trainer and credit resource to less tenured staff.
Areas of Responsibility Include but not limited to:
Based on Size, Scope, and Risk in the overall credit facility; complete the following:
- Analyze financial information – accurately complete historical trends, pro-forma projections, debt repayment schedules, consolidations, sensitivity analysis, Probability of Default and Loss Given Default templates, source and use, commodity worksheets, and any other necessary schedules, worksheets, and/or template tools available to adequately support the overall credit recommendation.
- Prepare a loan narrative that provides an adequate summary of the financial analysis, addressing the applicable five C’s of credit, highlighting credit strengths and weaknesses that supports the credit recommendation.
- Continue to study and be familiar with internal and external credit practices, loan products, and compliance standards to ensure sound and eligible credit recommendations are completed.
- Actively collaborate with Loan Officers to add value by making loan structuring recommendations and finalizing credit recommendations
- Actively collaborate with Processors to ensure effective processes are in place for positive loan processing and closing results
- Quality review your work; ensure PD/LGD ratings are accurate, loan structure, and covenants are appropriate given the Size, Scope, and Risk
- Effectively manage their loan underwriting pipeline and meet targeted turnaround time for loan decisions.
- Maintain high level of communication with lending and operations. Ensure adequate file documentation.
- Monitor larger agri-business accounts for compliance with loan covenants and other ongoing conditions of the loan approval. May be an informal specialist in a particular industry and serves as an Association expert on that industry
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, or Finance.
- Generally, a minimum of seven or more years of lending or credit experience.
- An advanced knowledge of agricultural lending and related financial products and services and selling skills.
- Superior verbal, written communication and analytical skills
- Demonstrates leadership as a mentor, trainer, and credit resource to less experienced staff.
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with a large, geographically diverse team of co-workers.
- Adaptable and flexible to a changing work environment.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

The salary range for this position is $79,300 to $117,400, with a midpoint of $98,000. This range reflects current market compensation data and our commitment to competitive, equitable pay. The starting rate is based on the applicant’s relevant experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations. Most new hires are offered a starting rate between the minimum and midpoint of the range, although placement elsewhere in the range may be appropriate based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
