Vacancy: Grade 5 Math/Science Teacher
School: Reed Intermediate School
Salary: In Accordance with Current Teacher’s Contract
Starting Date: August 2026
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- Valid CT teaching certificate for this position (013, 005, or 305)
- Interest in working in a high-performing district in an intermediate
school environment
- Strong understanding of effective teaching strategies in the content
areas of this assignment
- Familiarity and/or experience of teaching mathematics and
understanding of mathematical practices
- Familiarity and/or experience of teaching science and understanding of
NGSS
- Familiarity and/or experience in utilizing small group instruction to
support a wide-range of learners
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
- Effective classroom management skills that promote a positive
learning environment
- Desire to work in a partnership teaching arrangement
- Willingness to participate in collaborative lesson planning
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to integrate technology into instruction
- Knowledge of effective MTSS practices
- Commitment to promoting a positive culture
Responsibilities: The teacher will be a part of a two-person team and provide instruction in
mathematics and science.
