American Traveler is hiring an LPN/LVN for a Long-Term Care unit, requiring an active Alaska license, previous travel experience, and at least 1 year of LTC experience (license required if applicable).

Work in a Long-Term Care (LTC) facility with 40 staffed beds
-
Patient ratio of 1:20
-
Scheduled for 4x12 or 3x12 variable shifts, either Days (0700-1930) or Nights (1900-0730), based on facility needs
-
Caregivers are assigned to a consistent shift (day or night) with only occasional rotation for urgent staffing needs
-
May be required to float within scope to other units or sister facilities to meet facility needs

Uses ECS charting system

No on-call requirements

Scrub color: any

Active Alaska LPN/LVN license required in hand at time of submission (license required if applicable)

Minimum 1 year of LPN/LVN experience required

LTC experience required; LTAC experience preferred

Current BLS certification required

Previous travel healthcare experience required

Must obtain Alaska Food Worker Certification during on-site orientation (one-time $10 fee)

Skilled in admission of patients, vital sign monitoring, medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, eye/ear drops), blood glucose monitoring, wound and skin care, NG/G tube management, foley catheter insertion, and oxygen administration

Ability to communicate patient status changes to RN/MD

First-time travelers are not accepted for this position

Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

No more than 2 weeks of RTO will be considered for a 26-week contract, and all RTO requests must be submitted upfront with the application

Must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)

Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel clinician

Daily responsibilities include isolation precautions/PPE, ambulation assistance, bathing, mouth care, and feeding tube care

Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits

Two professional references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years are required, which may include Charge RNs or Leads
