Job Summary
Community Supports Specialists are community outreach professionals who build relationships with local organizations, community resources, and neighborhood partners to promote our Food as Medicine offerings. It is the Community Supports Specialist’s job to educate, inform, and engage community members and partners about available food benefits, provide product information and samples, and connect eligible individuals and families with nutrition support through Rfoodx.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Liaise with healthcare professionals to promote our Food as Medicine food benefits within the Bronx, NY.
- Introduce our products and services to physicians, hospital nurses, community resources and others in the community that serve the eligible population.
- Deliver market research and clinical data to healthcare professionals about Food as Medicine
- Attend community meetings and partner meetings.
- Become an expert on Medicaid food and nutritional services available to those within NYC.
- Participate in and/or host speaker programs for doctors to come in and discuss healthcare issues.
- Monitor data to understand the market and find opportunities for growth.
- Provide food samples and literature.
- Take sales orders through the Rfoodx website or portal.
- Give presentations to doctors and staff.
- Help develop strategies to approach potential customers and garner sales.
- Cold-call doctors, pharmacists, and other medical staff to obtain appointment dates.
- Stay up to date with the latest clinical data and pass this information on to healthcare professionals at presentations.
- Stay informed about competitors' products.
- Keep detailed records of all contacts, both potential and existing
- Maintain a computer database to record all sales.
- Deliver sales reports and ensure goals are met.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Medical sales experience or experience working in healthcare is not required but is a plus.
- Sound knowledge of Medicaid, medical terminology and State Medicaid legislation.
- Excellent organizational and consultative sales skills.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Exceptional customer service and/or client service skills.
- Initiative and curiosity.
- Attention to detail.
- Project orientation.
- Multi-task and manage competing priorities.
- Judgement and decision-making ability.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- RD or nutrition experience is helpful
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat
· Strong with excel and data analysis.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, desk work, and computer data input.
Additional Information:
- Mid to Heavy travel required within Fresno, Inyo, Kings, Madera, Mono, and Tulare Counties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Drug-screening and background checks will be performed post-job offer.

FSLA Status: Salaried Exempt
Salary Range: $85,000 to $95,000 with additional bonus or commission opportunity
