Pay: $40-42.00/hour
Our client, a local public agency, is seeking an experienced Building Inspector II for a temporary 6–12 month assignment. This position includes both field inspections and office work, ensuring residential, commercial, and industrial construction complies with applicable building codes.
What You'll Do
- Perform building inspections for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
- Verify compliance with building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, energy, and green codes.
- Read construction plans and specifications.
- Investigate code complaints and issue correction notices or stop-work orders when necessary.
- Assist contractors and the public with code-related questions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2 years of municipal combination inspection experience.
- Valid California Class C driver's license (or ability to obtain one).
- ICC Building Inspector certification.
- ICC Combination Dwelling Inspector certification OR equivalent ICC certifications in building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical inspection disciplines.
Preferred
- Strong knowledge of construction methods and current building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
