Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and program CNC machines, including lathes and milling centers, to produce precision components according to detailed specifications. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency in CNC programming, and experience with various measuring instruments. Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machining equipment such as CNC lathes and milling machines, primarily utilizing Fanuc controls.
- Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM programming software, ensuring efficient and accurate production runs.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and specifications to produce precise parts.
- Use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment and ensure tooling is properly installed and maintained.
- Read and interpret CAD models created in SolidWorks or other CAD software for machining applications.
- Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments and document results for process control.
- Assist in assembly processes when required, utilizing hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other fabrication tools.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying process improvements and reducing waste.
- Operate forklift or other material handling equipment to move raw materials or finished products safely.
Skills
- Proven experience with CNC programming and operation on CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles for precise measurement and quality control.
- Proficiency with CAM programming software; familiarity with SolidWorks and CAD design is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes for complex part fabrication.
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding.
- Ability to read blueprints accurately and interpret technical drawings.
- Familiarity with tooling selection, setup, and maintenance for various machining operations.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machine offsets.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to machining environments; ability to operate forklifts responsibly.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues efficiently.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members across departments. Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
