- Must hold an active Maine L.P.N or RN License
- Basic Life Support is required, or within 3 months of hire
Other Skills Required
- Ability to identify verbally and in writing resident’s/patient’s physical and emotional needs as well as psychosocial needs
- Demonstrates accountability and coordination of care by:
- Providing skilled and safe nursing care to assigned residents/patients
- Performs procedures skillfully, e.g. tube feedings, dressing changes, urinary catheterization
- Assists physicians with examinations/treatments
- Recognizes and refers complex problems to Supervisor or Charge Nurse responsible for resident/patient care
- Participates in resident/patient care conferences
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of normal limits of vital signs and commonly used lab tests by reporting abnormal findings and reports them to the Supervisor or Charge Nurse
- Demonstrates an understanding of the medical plan of care and ensures that physician orders are implemented properly and accurately
- Documents resident/patient data and actions appropriate to resident/patients’ plan of care
- Documents interventions accurately, clearly and concisely
- Acts as an advocate for providing safe delivery of patient/resident care
- Demonstrates knowledge of dosage, route, action, side effects, and contraindications of medications
- Utilizes resources as necessary
- Able to set up and operate equipment on unit
- Follows procedures for Universal Precautions and seeks assistance as needed
- Maintains a safe, clean environment for residents/patients and their family
- Accepts and uses instruction and guidance from Supervisor or Charge Nurse and seeks feedback on own performance to grow and improve
- Has a passion for working with long term care residents and skilled patients
