The Arc Mid-Hudson, recognized as a leader in our field and one of the largest employers in the Hudson Valley, has a new opportunity for a Staff Accountant.
Located in our Administrative offices in Kingston, this Accounting professional will work closely with our dynamic Finance team, and will be responsible for general accounting functions, reconciliations, preparation of internal and external reports, use of various accounting software and research of accounting issues and standards
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Review bank statements monthly ensuring reconciliation to the general ledger.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts as assigned by the Director of Finance
- Prepare year end audit work papers as assigned by Director of Finance.
- Assist Senior Staff Accountant with month end closing including journal entries, allocations and preparation of monthly financials as assigned.
- Responsible for reconciliation of quarterly analyses of certain programs of the main corporation or any of our related party entities
- Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts monthly with supporting work papers.
- Assist with the preparation of workpapers for the Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR).
- Review program expenses monthly for non-allowable items and improper coding ensuring trends are reasonable.
- Responsible for recording transactions for our business center or related party entities as assigned.
- Complete tasks necessary for assigned contracts with County, State or OPWDD. Shall include the management of contract documents, renewals, quarterly reports and vouchers for payment, budget modifications and account reconciliations for associated general ledger accounts.
HOURS: 40/Monday through Friday/days
Job Requirements:
- BS Degree in Accounting required with 5+ years accounting experience.
- Collaborative, hands-on style with colleagues at all levels required.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Must be experienced in and able to demonstrate proficiency with computerized software applications.
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Experience with OPWDD and/or SED funding sources preferred but not necessary
