Bid Writer/Business Development Consultant for Low Voltage & Network Installation Contracts (Commission-based)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Bid Writer/Business Development Consultant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, writing, and managing competitive bids, proposals, and RFP responses for low voltage and network installation projects across California.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the entire bid writing process from initial opportunity assessment through final submission
- Analyze bid requirements, RFPs, and tender documents to develop comprehensive response strategies
- Collaborate with technical teams to gather accurate pricing, scope definitions, and project approaches
- Write compelling technical narratives that effectively communicate our solutions and competitive advantages
- Develop detailed cost estimates and pricing structures in collaboration with project managers
- Maintain compliance with bid requirements and ensure all documentation meets specifications
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to obtain accurate quotes and technical specifications
- Manage multiple bid opportunities simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines
- Maintain a database of standard responses, technical content, and pricing information
- Review completed installations to gather data for improving future proposals
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience writing technical proposals or bids, preferably in low voltage, construction, or IT industries
- Demonstrated success rate in winning competitive bids
- Strong understanding of low voltage systems, structured cabling, and network infrastructure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to translate technical information into clear, persuasive proposals
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word
- Experience with construction estimating software and bid management platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Technical Writing, Engineering, or related field
- APMP certification or similar professional credentials
- Experience with California public works projects and prevailing wage requirements
- Knowledge of CAD software and ability to read technical drawings
- Familiarity with industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC)
- Background in electrical, telecommunications, or construction industries
