The Zhou Lab (https://www.the-zhou-lab.com) at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant or Specialist for an academic hourly position (~40 hours/week). Our research focuses on the intersection of vasculature, immunity, and regeneration, specifically exploring the "vascular niche" in lung repair.

Key Responsibilities
- Experimental Execution: Conduct core laboratory techniques including cell culture, PCR, antibody staining, and confocal microscopy.
- Animal Research Support: Assist with mouse colony management, genotyping, and fundamental in vivo procedures (e.g., IP injections, tissue harvesting).
- Laboratory Operations: Ensure smooth daily operations by preparing reagents (autoclaving, aliquoting), managing inventory, and maintaining meticulous lab records and protocols.
- Team Collaboration: Provide technical support to lab members and contribute to ongoing regenerative medicine projects.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences, biology, or a related field.
- Preferred: Master’s degree or 2+ years of hands-on wet-lab experience.
- Technical Skills: Prior experience with mouse handling and experimental surgery is a significant plus.
- Core Competencies: Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment: Candidates must be able to commit to the position for at least one year.
