Multiple roles are available for the upcoming academic year, focusing on elementary and middle-grade classrooms serving students with severe disabilities. Classrooms include K-3rd, 4th-6th, and 7th-8th grade. Students vary in communication abilities, with some verbal and others non-verbal, creating a rewarding environment for compassionate, adaptive educators.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Mississippi Special Education teaching license required
- Previous experience teaching students with severe disabilities highly preferred
- Strong communication skills, with ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Proven adaptability and creativity in classroom management and lesson planning
- Embraces new technology for instruction, as appropriate
- Passion for fostering inclusive classroom communities
Role Overview:
- Serve as the lead educator for a self-contained classroom with students requiring significant accommodations
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Modify curriculum and instruction to meet each student’s unique needs and abilities
- Work closely with families and school staff to ensure ongoing support and progress
- Track and document student growth and adjust instruction accordingly
- Maintain an organized, nurturing, and structured classroom
