Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers and other commercial trucks, including manual transmission vehicles, across designated routes.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring cargo integrity and safety.
- Drive various truck types such as refrigerated trailers for temperature-sensitive goods, flatbeds for oversized loads, tankers for liquid freight, and dump trucks for bulk materials.
- Follow established routes diligently while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle condition, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load securement.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and incident reports; communicate effectively with dispatch teams.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff for efficient load & unload operations and manage freight handling procedures.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving with a focus on commercial driving standards; familiarity with route driving is essential.
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission trucks; experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and dump trucks is highly desirable.
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using forklifts or roll-off trucks; knowledge of load securement techniques.
- Strong understanding of transportation safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; ability to handle tractor-trailers and other large vehicles confidently.
- Physical stamina to handle long hours on the road and perform load handling tasks as needed.
- Flexibility to adapt to different truck types such as tanker or flatbed trucks depending on delivery needs.
