Position Overview
We're hiring a traveling journeyman electrician to join a CRITICAL POWER CREW performing UPS generator swaps at distribution centers and store locations nationwide. This is a HEAVY TRAVEL ROLE — expect to be out for weeks or months at a stretch with no fixed rotation, working alongside one or two other electricians on each site. The ideal candidate is a true road warrior: licensed, experienced with UPS and generator work, and comfortable with unpredictable schedules and shift assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Shut down and remove old UPS generator systems and install new units at Walmart distribution centers and store locations
- Run and terminate conduit ranging from ¾" to 4", primarily EMT with some rigid
- Pull wire through 2 to 4 inch pull fields
- Terminate wire and conduit runs to code on commercial-scale critical power systems
- Work as part of a two- to three-person electrician team on each site
- Travel to assigned sites nationwide and remain deployed for extended stretches, including weeks or months at a time
- Work any shift as assigned, including nights, when site access requires off-hour work
- Operate a company fleet vehicle to and from job sites
- Read and follow site-specific electrical plans and specifications for each UPS or generator swap
- Maintain safety compliance on active commercial and industrial sites throughout each project
Required Qualifications
- Current Journeyman electrician license, with proof of license required
- Hands-on UPS installation, swap, or maintenance experience
- Experience running and bending EMT conduit from ¾" to 4"
- Experience pulling and terminating wire in 2 to 4 inch pull fields
- Valid driver's license, and a clean MVR to qualify as a company fleet driver
- Willingness to travel continuously and be deployed for weeks or months at a time with no fixed schedule
- Willingness to work any shift, including nights, based on project needs
- Willingness to work up to 60 hours a week with no guaranteed minimum
- Able to pass a background check and drug screen
Preferred Qualifications
- Rigid conduit experience in addition to EMT
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- NFPA 70E training
- Prior experience on large distribution center or big-box retail electrical projects
Compensation and Benefits
- $32 to $42 an hour, based on experience and license status
- Hotel covered for the full duration of deployment
- $45 a day food per diem
- Target of 60 hours a week
- Company fleet vehicle provided once on assignment
