Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment, ensuring all tools meet infection prevention management protocols.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties by providing chairside support.
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as DENTICON, OPEN DENTAL; document medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes accurately.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and ensuring patient comfort throughout visits.
- Support patient management software to schedule appointments, send reminders, and facilitate smooth patient flow within the clinic.
- Follow clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and medical coding in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental assisting procedures and dental equipment.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as DENTICON, OPEN DENTAL experience with medical documentation and records management is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices including dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform dental x-ray imaging accurately while maintaining safety standards for patients and staff.
- Knowledge of dental terminology across various specialties including pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
- Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) is a plus; ongoing training in healthcare infection prevention is encouraged.
