JOB TITLE: Career Services Advisor
REPORTS TO: Career Services Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) is seeking a Career Services Advisor to join our Career Services team and provide exceptional support to our students. ICE is one of America’s leading centers for culinary education and the largest culinary school in New York City and Los Angeles. We are passionate about helping students of all ages and backgrounds pursue their culinary career dreams. We’re looking for a Career Services Advisor who is enthusiastic about the world of food and excited to contribute to our growing organization.
Success in this role requires a genuine desire to assist others. At ICE, our Career Services Advisors are dedicated to guiding students through their career journey, from securing externships to finding permanent placements. This role is vital in helping students navigate the challenges of entering the culinary industry.
The Career Services Advisor is an essential member of our Career Services team and reports directly to the Career Services Manager & National Director of Career Services. We support and reward creativity, performance, professional development, and team involvement. We also have fun, and eat well, in the process!
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage career services advisement for assigned students

Provide coaching and advisement for the career students; assisting with externships and permanent placements

Communicate with employers about staffing and externship needs.
- Conduct site visits to externship locations

Manage and maintain placement files for placement as required by ACCSC accreditation standards

Maintain updated alumni employment and contact information
-
Conduct and facilitate career workshops, presentations, etc.

Work closely with the Office of Student Affairs and Registrar; keeping abreast of the assigned student activities and performance

Provide general career advisement for alumni, as well as prospective students

Assist in the planning and execution of career fairs

Assist in the planning and execution of career development seminars and alumni programming

Represent ICE at food events, conferences, receptions, etc.

Contribute articles to the career services weekly e-newsletter
- Generate career services materials to be used in class orientations, visits, etc.

Development and identification of career services materials for the library, website, etc.

Perform general administrative support, as needed, for the Career Services Department.

Review resumes, cover letters and provide interviewing preparation guidance
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree a plus, experience in career services or human resources fields ideal

Minimum of (1-3) years related work experience in the food service and hospitality industries

Proficient in the Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, Powerpoint, Word and Excel; experience with CampusVue software a plus

Must possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; strong presentation and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and within a team

Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
-
Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with other departments and teams.

Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills required

Must have the ability to work some evenings and weekends.

A familiarity with and appreciation for the Institute of Culinary Education and its programs

The position is full-time and requires flexibility to work evening and weekend shifts,
according to department rotation, which is set in advance.
