Our client is seeking a Tax Accountant or Senior Tax Accountant to join its growing public accounting team. Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, and C corporations.
- Support tax planning, compliance, consulting, and advisory engagements for a diverse client base.
- Work directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and provide exceptional service.
- Research tax issues and assist in developing practical solutions and planning strategies.
- Analyze tax notices and assist with responses to taxing authorities.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency and provide value-added recommendations.
- Manage multiple client engagements while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Collaborate with partners, managers, and team members on complex tax matters.
- Stay current on changes in tax laws and regulations.
- Mentor and support junior staff through coaching and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives that enhance client service and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of public accounting tax experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Experience preparing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, and C corporations.
- Experience using professional tax software (specific software experience is not required).
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax compliance.
- Michigan resident. Relocation is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CPA candidate. (Reimbursement offered for obtaining CPA)
- Experience working with closely held businesses and business owners.
- Experience with tax planning and multi-entity business structures.
