Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Structural/Miscellaneous Steel Welder-Fabricator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience fabricating and welding structural and miscellaneous steel, with strong MIG welding skills and the ability to interpret shop drawings and fabrication details. Candidates should be proficient in fitting, fabricating, and welding structural steel components while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform MIG welding and fabrication on structural and miscellaneous steel components.
- Lay out, fit, and weld structural steel according to shop drawings and project specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Operate welding, fabrication, and grinding equipment safely and efficiently.
- Accurately measure and lay out materials using tape measures and other layout tools.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and project requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area while following all safety procedures.
- Attend and participate in daily safety and production meetings.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of structural and/or miscellaneous steel fabrication and welding experience.
- MIG welding experience required.
- Ability to pass a MIG weld test (.045 wire, flat and horizontal).
- Strong structural fabrication and fitting experience.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and welding symbols.
- Experience producing welds that meet visual inspection standards and are capable of passing X-ray or bend testing.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Proficient with hand tools, grinders, and measuring instruments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must have reliable transportation to the job site.
- Must be able to stand, bend, crouch, twist, work at heights, and lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Must wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety vest.
Please Note: Candidates with only specialty pipe welding or pipe fabrication experience and no structural or miscellaneous steel experience are not the right fit for this position.
