Precision TIG/MIG Welder & Fabricator – Aerospace Experience Required
Job Description
We are a rapidly growing company seeking a highly skilled Precision Welder/Fabricator with aerospace experience to join our team.
This position requires someone with strong TIG and MIG welding and fabrication experience who understands the precision, dimensional control, documentation, and quality standards required in aerospace and other tight-tolerance manufacturing environments.
Aerospace welding or fabrication experience is REQUIRED.
We are looking for someone who understands that precision welding is much more than producing a good-looking weld. You must be able to fully read, understand, and work directly from engineering blueprints and drawings, understand specified tolerances, perform precise fit-up, control distortion and heat input, and produce repeatable work that meets exact specifications.
Candidates must also be comfortable using manufacturing management software to track jobs, work orders, documentation, production status, and related manufacturing information.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precision TIG and MIG welding
- Perform fabrication, fitting, layout, assembly, and weld preparation
- Produce welded assemblies while maintaining tight dimensional tolerances
- Understand and compensate for weld shrinkage, distortion, heat input, and material movement
- Fully read and interpret engineering blueprints and drawings
- Understand dimensions, tolerances, weld symbols, notes, specifications, and revision requirements
- Work directly from blueprints without requiring constant interpretation or supervision
- Perform precise fit-up and verify dimensions before, during, and after welding
- Use precision measuring tools to verify work against blueprint requirements
- Fabricate components and assemblies according to engineering specifications
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets required quality and dimensional standards
- Maintain accurate weld logs, weld maps, job records, and manufacturing documentation
- Use company manufacturing management software to properly document and track work
- Maintain welding and fabrication equipment
- Follow all company safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures
Required Qualifications
- Aerospace welding and/or aerospace fabrication experience
- Proven professional TIG welding experience
- MIG welding experience
- Strong fabrication, fitting, and assembly skills
- Demonstrated experience working to tight dimensional tolerances
- Must be fully proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings
- Must understand weld symbols, dimensions, tolerances, drawing notes, and revisions
- Must understand precision fit-up, weld sequencing, heat control, distortion control, and dimensional verification
- Experience using precision measuring equipment
- Must be familiar with manufacturing management software / production management systems
- Ability to accurately enter and maintain job, work-order, production, and quality documentation
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to repeatable, high-quality workmanship
- Competence in weld logs and weld maps is REQUIRED
Applicants should be prepared to demonstrate blueprint-reading ability and knowledge of weld logs/weld maps during the interview process.
Preferred Experience
- Aerospace component manufacturing
- Precision manufacturing
- Semiconductor equipment fabrication
- Stainless steel fabrication, including 316L stainless steel
- GD&T knowledge
- Experience with ERP, MRP, MES, or other manufacturing management software
- AWS or similar welding certifications
- Familiarity with ASME, AWS, ISO, or other applicable manufacturing and quality standards
What We’re Looking For
This is not a general production welding position.
We are looking for a precision-minded welder and fabricator with aerospace-level experience who understands the importance of working exactly to the blueprint and maintaining specified tolerances throughout the fabrication and welding process.
The right candidate must understand:
- Blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation
- Tight dimensional tolerances
- Precision fit-up
- Weld sequencing
- Heat and distortion management
- Weld quality and consistency
- Accurate measurement and dimensional verification
- Documentation and traceability
- Weld logs and weld maps
- Manufacturing management software
- Following engineering specifications and revisions exactly
You should be comfortable taking a blueprint or work order, understanding what is required, fabricating the component or assembly to specification, documenting your work, and verifying that the finished product meets the required tolerances.
Why Join Us
