Responsibilities
- Teach classes tailored to various age groups and skill levels, incorporating elements of ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, and other dance styles.
- Lead engaging dance classes that promote technical proficiency, artistic expression, and physical fitness.
- Create original choreography for performances, recitals, and community events that showcase students’ talents and progress.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a safe, respectful, and motivating environment for all students.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs, including children with special education requirements or early childhood development needs.
- Collaborate with other arts educators to integrate dance with theater, music, photography, sewing or culinary arts projects when appropriate.
- Support students’ personal growth by providing constructive feedback and fostering confidence in their abilities.
Experience
- Proven experience teaching dance or performing arts to children and youth programs with a strong background in choreography and dance instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to develop lesson plans that align with curriculum standards while encouraging creativity and self-expression.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including early childhood education or preschool settings.
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques suitable for young learners and special education environments.
- Skills in choreography across multiple dance styles such as ballet, jazz, contemporary or hip-hop are highly desirable.
- Familiarity with theater performance techniques and musical instruments can enhance your teaching versatility.
- Prior experience in arts tutoring or adult education is a plus for expanding program offerings.
