Job Description
Position Summary:
Responsible for originating, underwriting and servicing sound commercial real estate loans; participating in establishing specific goals for the department.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
10 years commercial real estate loan portfolio management and/or equivalent experience underwriting for and placing loans with institutional investors
Strong credit underwriting skills
Knowledge of appraisal practices, basic real estate law, contracts, legal document terminology pertaining to real estate, title insurance laws, banking regulations, policies and procedures
Adept at underwriting residential and commercial projects both on a construction and permanent basis
Sales or business development background
Working knowledge of commercial real estate
Ability to work in a team environment as a role player and leader
Strong computer skills (MS Office, etc.)
High degree of attention to detail and ability to multitask
Essential functions and responsibilities:
Valid Driver’s License
Analyzes and screens loan requests on all types of commercial real estate loans
Interviews applicants and obtains necessary financial information
Packages loans as required and recommends terms and conditions of loan
Develop and maintain existing and new client relationships with commercial real estate developers and investors
Coordinate closing of real estate loans, communicating with borrower, attorneys, title representatives, and construction consultants to assure the loan is closed and documented in accordance with the credit approval.
Analyze and fund construction loan advance requests and appropriate back up documentation as presented by the customer, including construction inspection reports, title bring downs, and other relevant construction documentation; focusing on construction related risk, budget adequacy, and adherence to loan documentation, takeout agreement and lease requirements.
Monitor loan portfolio and assist in reporting of various loan quality measurement including: tracking insurance, monitoring interest reserves, exception tracking, preparing reports, and ongoing review of expiring loan extensions
Perform frequent site inspections on active construction sites and routine inspections
Collect and analyze operating statements, financial information, rents and leases
Evaluate the client’s requirements and provide optimal solutions, recommending terms and conditions of potential loans
Design, modify and recommend program procedures that will attract quality construction and land development loans
Report and advise senior management of current lending trends, rates, and competitive programs in the market
Coordinate loan servicing with the department’s processors
Monitor compliance with consumer protection issues and regulations, ensuring that the processing and handling of all customer information and confidential bank information is done in a secure manner
