Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles, including trucks and automobiles, adhering strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safe lifting practices.
- Plan efficient routes using organizational skills to ensure timely deliveries while optimizing fuel consumption.
- Load and unload merchandise with care, employing heavy lifting techniques when necessary to prevent injury.
- Communicate clearly with clients and store personnel to confirm delivery details, answer questions, and build positive relationships.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after routes to maintain safety standards and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Upsell additional products or services where appropriate, leveraging sales skills to enhance customer satisfaction and company revenue.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and inventory records in compliance with company policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial driving or automobile transportation, preferably within retail or delivery sectors.
- Strong math skills for handling pricing calculations, measurements, and basic accounting tasks related to deliveries.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction, route coordination, and team collaboration.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following proper lifting practices.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations governing commercial truck driving and safety standards.
- Retail store experience is a plus for understanding merchandising and customer service expectations.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience in route driving preferred.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple deliveries efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
