Position Title: Medical Receptionist
Reports To: Office Manager and Physician(s)
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: One-year experience in a medical office using electronic medical records software: EPIC a must.
Education: High School Diploma
Pay: Hourly and based on experience, industry standards, and skills acquired while employed with Academic Cardiology Associates, PC.
Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, diplomacy are essential elements of
the job. Work involves personal contact with others
inside and/or outside of the organization.
Other Skills: Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending, and stretching. Computer/Electronic Medical Record knowledge. It is necessary to work in a fast-paced environment which can be very stressful.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
2. Checks in patients, verifies and updates patient demographic information and insurance coverage. Scans driver’s license and insurance cards into Epic.
3. Obtains signatures on Acknowledgement of Receipt of Notice of Privacy Practices, Text Messaging Program Consent Form and Assignment of Benefits/Authorization to Release Medical Information/Financial Responsibility Forms and explains to patient(s) ACA’s policy on required forms. Scans forms into Epic.
4. Collects patient payments via cash, check, or credit card. Processes credit card payments over the phone for patients calling in to pay on balance only. Balance funds at close of day and prepares cash drawer totals for the billing department.
5. Schedules new and established patient appointments and diagnostic testing performed within office and adheres to scheduling rules/guidelines regarding under booking and overbooking.
6. Schedules and prepares necessary paperwork for any procedures performed at Corewell Health-Troy.
7. Processes medical record requests and collects fee for services rendered.
8. Verifies insurance coverage is active, obtains copay information to be collected at the time of service and enters into appointment notes.
9. Check fax line/machine regularly and distributes accordingly.
10 Answers phones, screens telephone calls, takes messages and provides
general information to patients. Answers questions regarding patient
appointments.
11 Ability to travel to Romeo Plank office as needed.
Expectations:
1. Know physician schedule(s) and receptionist duties.
2. Contact management a minimum of two hours in advance if unable to arrive for scheduled work day.
3. Verify and update necessary patient information.
4. Adhere to scheduling templates and guidelines.
5. Maintain a professional, friendly and helpful relationship with all patients and co-workers.
6. Abides by all office policies and guidelines.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
