Job Description: Clinical Support Staff (MA / EMT / PMD)
Position Summary
The Clinical Support Staff is a vital part of the urgent care team, responsible for facilitating efficient patient flow and supporting high-quality clinical care. This multifaceted role bridges front-office functions with back-office clinical duties, including patient intake, diagnostic testing, medication administration, and maintaining a safe, compliant environment. This position functions under the direct supervision of the Site Manager, Medical Director, and licensed providers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Intake & Clinical Documentation
- Rooming: Promptly and efficiently room patients to optimize clinic flow.
- Identification: Verify patient identity using two distinct identifiers.
- Vitals: Obtain and record blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, height, and weight.
- EMR Data Entry: Accurately enter all clinical data into the EMR in real-time.
- Information Review: Update patient allergies, current medications, past medical history, and document the chief complaint.
2. Clinical Procedures & Testing (CLIA-Waived)
- Specimen Collection: Perform point-of-care testing (POCT) for COVID, Flu, Strep, Urinalysis, Blood Glucose, and Pregnancy.
- Quality Assurance: Complete daily, weekly, and monthly QC controls and maintain accurate logs per manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
- Lab Compliance: Ensure all specimens are properly labeled, handled, and documented.
3. Medication Administration
- Delivery: Administer oral, topical, and injectable (IM, SQ) medications and perform PPD placement per provider orders.
- Safety Protocols: Strictly follow the "five rights" of medication administration and verify patient allergies.
- Consent: Ensure all patient consents and Vaccine Information Statements (VIS) are completed prior to administration.
- Monitoring: Observe patients for adverse reactions and immediately report concerns to the provider.
4. Front Desk Operations & Support
- Cross-Training: Maintain competency in patient check-in, registration, and check-out workflows.
- Administrative Accuracy: Verify insurance and demographic info; ensure Advance Beneficiary Notice of Noncoverage (ABN) is completed for Medicare patients when required.
- Clinic Flow: Support the front desk staff during high-volume periods.
5. Inventory, Safety & Infection Control
- Sanitization: Follow disinfection protocols for exam rooms and equipment between every patient.
- Hazard Management: Handle and dispose of biohazard materials and sharps in accordance with safety and storage guidelines.
- Supply Oversight: Monitor stock levels, proactively notify management of low inventory, and restock clinical areas throughout the shift.
- Expiration Tracking: Perform monthly audits of all clinical supplies and medications, remove expired items and maintain accurate logs.

- Conduct: Demonstrate professional communication with all patients, staff, and leadership.
- Compliance: Always maintain strict HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
- Scope of Practice: Adhere to all clinic protocols, escalation procedures for high-acuity patients, and clinical safety standards.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
