Koehn Building Systems (KBS) is seeking a highly motivated Project Estimator to join our growing team in Rich Hill, Missouri.

What You'll Do
The Project Estimator will be responsible for evaluating project opportunities, developing accurate cost estimates, assessing project risks, and helping KBS secure profitable work while maintaining our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Project Analysis
- Review construction plans, blueprints, specifications, and project documents
- Evaluate project scope, constructability, and overall fit for KBS
- Identify potential challenges, exclusions, and risk factors
- Coordinate with sales, project management, subcontractors, and vendors
Cost Estimating
- Prepare detailed estimates for:
- Labor
- Materials
- Equipment
- Subcontractors
- General conditions
- Utilize historical cost data and current market pricing
- Analyze bid documents and specifications for complete scope coverage
- Review pre-engineered metal building requirements and construction methods
Budget Development
- Develop comprehensive project budgets
- Forecast potential cost variances
- Incorporate contingency planning where appropriate
- Support value engineering initiatives without compromising quality or safety
Risk Assessment
- Identify project risks including:
- Schedule constraints
- Material availability
- Escalation concerns
- Liquidated damages
- Labor challenges
- Recommend mitigation strategies and contingency planning
Bid Preparation & Proposal Support
- Assist in preparing competitive and accurate bid proposals
- Coordinate subcontractor pricing and vendor quotations
- Ensure estimates align with company goals and profit expectations
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain organized and accurate estimating records
- Clearly communicate assumptions, exclusions, and project risks
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Project Managers, and Leadership Team
- Participate in project review meetings and post-project analysis
Preferred Experience
Required
- 3+ years of construction estimating project management, field supervision, or related construction experience
- Strong understanding of commercial construction practices
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications

- Experience with:
- Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB)
- Concrete Construction
- Commercial Construction
- Design-Build Projects
- Public Works Projects
- Experience with estimating software and project management platforms such as Procore or similar systems
- Knowledge of subcontractor management and bid solicitation
