We are looking for a dependable Pharmacy Technician that will process and fill prescriptions. You will undertake other tasks under the direction of a pharmacist to ensure the pharmacy runs smoothly. As a pharmacy technician you must be detail-oriented and reliable since the job has high responsibility. You must possess excellent communication skills as well as aptitude in using computers. This position is for our night shift which begins at 5:00 PM. End time varies based on operational needs and may extend to 3:00AM or 4:00 AM. This position requires flexibility in scheduling and overtime will be compensated in accordance.
Responsibilities
- Sterilize surfaces and equipment and prepare the pharmacy for opening
- Prepare and fill daily medication orders under pharmacist supervision
- Data entry of patient/facility information and prescription orders
- Communicate with facility nursing staff regarding order clarification
- Receive prescriptions and check their validity
- Staging items for delivery
- Maintain adequate stock levels of medications and supplies
- Receive, unpack, and properly store incoming inventory
- Monitor expiration dates
- Daily fill including controlled substances, compounding and IV preparations
- Select the appropriate medicine and measure dosages to fill prescriptions
- Answer phones and resolve issues with proper phone etiquette
- Other duties inherent to pharmacy operations as assigned
Skills
- Proven experience as pharmacy technician
- Experience with an online prescription system is a plus
- Knowledge of medication and dosage measurement
- Knowledge of pharmacy law and medical terminology
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
- Computer literate, able to use email, fax and scan
- Ability to work independently and in team environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift medication totes up to 40 lbs
- Manual dexterity for packaging and labeling
Compensation D.O.E.
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
