REPORTS TO: South Grove Elementary School Principal
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Indiana Mild Intervention teaching license.

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in special education.

Commitment to being a part of a team with active participation, continued professional growth and the ability to network effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders.

General knowledge and integration of technology and digital literacy in an educational setting.

Understanding of individualized education plans and appropriate accommodations for students with identified special needs.

Effective implementation of differentiated instructional strategies and approaches.

Demonstrated expertise in content curation, curriculum development, instruction, data analyses, mentoring, and professional development as demonstrated by an advanced degree, advanced training and/or career experience.

Effective use of verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills with all stakeholders.

Effective analytical judgment and critical thinking skills.

Excellent data-driven decision making skills.

Positive attitude and growth mindset; flexibility.

Knowledge of effective de-escalation strategies and behavioral management skills specific to meeting the needs of at-risk learners.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Collaborate with BGCS’s Director of Exceptional Learners, BGCS’s Student Services Specialist, Beech Grove Middle Schools administrative team, and classroom teachers; Beech Grove Middle School’s administration team includes: principal, assistant principal, behavior coach, counselors/home-school advisors, nurse, administrative assistants, and safety resource officer.

Collect and analyze student and grade level data that reflects the holistic development of students we serve.

Create, maintain, and progress monitor individualized education plans for identified students.

Conduct and/or actively participate in case conferences for initial evaluations, annual reviews, revised IIEPs, and other meetings intended to maximize student growth and achievement.

Assist and coach colleagues in special education programming by accessing, selecting, and implementing effective research-based instructional and behavioral strategies.

Plan and facilitate follow-up support for and with colleagues via co-planning, co-teaching, modeling, and/or conferencing.

Plan and implement curriculum and instruction specifically geared towards meeting the needs of exceptional learners.
-
Effectively communicate with administrators, teachers, and parents/guardians regarding the holistic formation of the students served; information includes but is not limited to: attendance, work habits, academic/social/emotional growth and achievement, and behavior management of students with exceptionalities.

All other duties as assigned by the Principal
