A
Civil Engineer V performs difficult professional engineering work in supervising and participating in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of civil engineering projects.
What You Will Do
General duties include but are not limited to:

Supervising preliminary and final surveys
-
Designing structures such as reservoirs, retaining walls, bridges, culverts, tunnels, pipelines, sewers, sidewalks, highways, etc
-
Assigning subordinate engineers and inspectors to construction projects
-
Settling disputes between contractors and inspectors
-
Approving construction changes
There are multiple vacancies across various departments within the City and County of Honolulu:

Three vacancies with the Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS), Capital Projects Division.

Two (2) vacancies in the Design & Plan Review Branch
One (1) vacancy in the Construction Management Pipeline Section

Five vacancies with the Department of Design and Construction (DDC).

Two (2) vacancies in the Civil Division.

This includes a vacancy in the Structural Support Section. Responsible for managing engineering projects involving bridge improvements, earth movement and slope stabilization, and guardrail and roadway safety improvements. Duties include project planning, design, and construction coordination, review of plans and specifications, consultant and contractor oversight, interagency coordination, budget, and schedule monitoring.
