What You’ll Do:
- Inspect welded heavy steel assemblies, including structural components, poles, and fabricated parts, to ensure compliance with AWS and AISC standards
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and shop drawings to verify weld quality, dimensions, and fabrication accuracy
- Verify base materials, consumables, and welding procedures to ensure compliance with approved WPS and project specifications
- Perform visual and in-process inspections using gauges, magnification tools, and measuring instruments to identify defects and non-conformances
- Document inspection results, report quality issues, and collaborate with welders, supervisors, and QA teams to support corrective actions and compliance
What You Bring:
- Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification with experience in structural steel or heavy fabrication environments
- 3–5+ years of welding inspection, fabrication, or quality assurance experience in a manufacturing or steel production setting
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and apply AWS D1.1 and AISC code requirements
- Solid understanding of welding processes such as MIG, FCAW, and SMAW, including common weld defects and fabrication issues
- High attention to detail with strong documentation skills, and the ability to enforce quality and safety standards in a production environment
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
