The Prevailing Wage Specialist is responsible for ensuring company compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage regulations on public works and government-funded construction projects. This role involves reviewing contracts, monitoring certified payroll submissions, conducting wage rate audits, maintaining compliance records, and working closely with project managers, payroll personnel, subcontractors, and government agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project contracts and bid documents to identify prevailing wage requirements.
- Interpret and apply federal, state, and local prevailing wage laws, including Davis-Bacon Act requirements where applicable.
- Monitor wage determinations and ensure employees are paid the correct prevailing wage and fringe benefit rates.
- Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports accurately and on schedule.
- Audit payroll records to verify compliance with prevailing wage regulations.
- Maintain detailed project documentation and compliance records.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to collect and verify certified payroll reports and supporting documentation.
- Investigate and resolve wage and classification discrepancies.
- Support government audits, compliance reviews, and labor investigations.
- Research updates to prevailing wage laws and communicate changes to internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting, and Project Management teams to ensure compliance.
- Generate reports and provide compliance status updates to management.
- Assist with labor compliance training and education initiatives.
QualificationsEducation
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in prevailing wage compliance, certified payroll administration, payroll processing, construction administration, or labor compliance.
- Experience working with public works or government-funded construction projects preferred.
- Knowledge of Davis-Bacon Act requirements and applicable state prevailing wage laws.
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
