Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented afternoon dispatcher (1500-0001) to join our logistics team in the maritime community. Weekends are required. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating transportation activities, forecasting vessel schedules, and assigning personnel to jobs. The ideal candiate should be fluent with military time, Excel, and be able to calculate ETA's based off distance/speed. This role requires strong communication skills, teamwork, accountability, and a self starter.
Responsibilities
- Manage the dispatching of vehicles and drivers to ensure timely arrivals.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, agents, and others to coordinate schedules and resolve issues.
- Analyze transportation data to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dispatching or a related logistics role is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with diverse teams.
- Ability to type efficiently while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Understanding of shipping and receiving processes within a logistics environment.
- Strong analytical skills to assess data and make informed decisions regarding transportation planning.
