Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Journeyman who is passionate about delivering high-quality plumbing work on new construction projects. This role is critical to the successful installation and execution of plumbing systems on phases of projects.
The Plumbing Journeyman will be responsible for performing, supervising, and inspecting plumbing work from underground, rough-in, and finish installation, ensuring that all work is completed on schedule, meets design specifications, and complies with applicable codes and safety standards. Key responsibilities include reading blueprints, providing layouts, installing and testing piping and fixtures, supervising and mentoring apprentices and specialists, coordinating with other trades, and enforcing quality control throughout the project.
The ideal candidate is highly skilled, detail-oriented, and proactive, bringing industry expertise to ensure project execution aligns with company goals for quality, safety, and efficiency. The Plumbing Journeyman will also mentor apprentices and support team development while maintaining strong client relationships and reinforcing a positive company image through work that exceeds expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project plans to determine plumbing system layouts.
- Lead and execute all phases of plumbing work on new construction projects, including underground, rough-in, and finish installation, without supervision.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate plumbing activities across multiple trades to ensure projects stay on schedule, on budget, and meet quality standards.
- Manage and mentor apprentices and specialist plumbers, providing hands-on training, guidance, and oversight to develop team skills.
- Perform quality control inspections and troubleshoot problems proactively, implementing solutions to prevent delays or rework.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work completed, materials used, change orders, and project progress.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and company standards, actively promoting a culture of safety on every job site.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for plumbing-related questions or issues on-site, communicating directly with project managers, clients, and other trades.
- Take ownership of project outcomes, ensuring that every plumbing installation is completed to the highest standards, and providing recommendations for process improvements.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant experience as a plumber, preferably in new construction or multi-family projects.
- Valid Journeyman or Master Plumber license in California (or equivalent).
- Proven experience leading plumbing work on new construction projects, preferably multi-family or commercial.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents independently.
- Strong project coordination skills, including scheduling, field crew oversight, and material management.
- Proactive problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to independently address complex plumbing challenges.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, including tracking work progress and maintaining accurate records.
- Commitment to safety and enforcing safety protocols on-site.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting with project managers, clients, and other trades professionally.
- Extensive knowledge of plumbing systems, codes, and best practices, including underground, rough-in, and finish installations.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.

Pay: $38.00 - $45.00 per hour
