Direct Support Professional
- Seeking a dedicated, kind, and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to
provide support for a sweet and outgoing individual in her own apartment and out
in the community. Experience with supporting individuals with intellectual
disabilities and behavior support needs is a plus.
- Candidate should be encouraging, positive, caring, and committed to
motivating and assisting individual with intellectual disabilities with living her life
with independence, choice, inclusion, and respect. Must also be patient,
reliable, a good communicator and listener.
- Must work well as a team player. Will be following an ISP and Behavior Support
Plan as well as documenting daily notes.
- Job includes being creative in finding meaningful community events to
participate in; supporting individual in faith-based community activities and
fellowship; possibly accompanying to volunteer/work opportunities; supporting
and teaching independent living skills such as cooking, chores, personal
hygiene, healthy eating choices, and accountability; creating a safe, positive, fun,
and encouraging atmosphere within the home; some light housekeeping and
cooking.
- Must complete training with the ARC, which includes First Aid and CPR. Must
pass all required background checks, have a driver’s license and safe driving
record. Will work with parents on establishing goals and ensuring
progress is being made.
- Hours/ Days Needed: Daytime shifts available are Thurs and Sat, 8 AM - 4 PM; Sat 4 PM - 10 PM.
There may be opportunities to fill in for other shifts. Overnights are 10
PM - 8 AM and will be available on an "as needed" basis (usually Fri and Sat).
- Pay is $25.10/hour for daytime hours (8 AM – 10 PM). Pay is $20.20/hour for
overnight hours (10 PM – 8 AM). Overnight shifts will require some light
housekeeping. Staff can rest/sleep but must be available to assist individual with
any needs.
Staff car is provided. Home is non-smoking/ smoke free workplace.
While this individual's family interviews and hires, the onboarding, training, and payroll processes are managed by The Arc AWC.
