About the Role
MortgageDepot, an independent mortgage broker serving clients across the New York metro area, is seeking a highly tech-savvy and motivated Operations Assistant to join our team. This is an entry-level opportunity ideal for candidates who are confident with technology and eager to build a career in financial services within a fast-paced, professional environment.
The Operations Assistant will be the operational backbone of our technology platforms, managing, maintaining, and learning new systems as the business evolves. A strong aptitude for technology is essential. No prior mortgage industry experience is required, we will provide full training to the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for operations-related technology, including software platforms, internal systems, and digital tools used across the business
- Become proficient in industry-specific programs, including mortgage origination software and operations platforms, with the ability to learn new tools quickly
- Leverage Microsoft Office 365 — particularly Excel — to support reporting, data management, and operational tracking
- Provide direct, hands-on support to the Operations Director, serving as a trusted right-hand resource for day-to-day operational priorities and tasks
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and escalate technology issues to ensure minimal disruption to daily operations
- Support the operations team with administrative and process-related tasks
- Maintain accurate records and documentation across internal systems
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and contribute to process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Strong, demonstrable technical aptitude — comfort with learning and navigating multiple software platforms is a core requirement of this role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, with advanced or strong working knowledge of Excel specifically
- Experience with Calyx Point or other mortgage origination software is a plus, but not required
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology platforms and internal systems
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a deadline-driven environment
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining consistent in-office presence five days per week
- Prior mortgage or financial services experience is not required
Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
