American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring Cerner experience and Level II trauma background.
-
Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting with 100-200 facility births per month
-
Patient population includes antepartum, high-risk antepartum, labor and delivery, LDRP, and mother/baby cases
-
Patient ratio of 1:3
-
Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15
-
Every third weekend required
-
Candidates may float to all competent units within the facility
-
Cerner EMR experience required, no exceptions
-
Active MO or compact RN license required at time of submittal
-
Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
-
Level II trauma experience required, Level I trauma experience preferred
-
Charge nurse experience preferred
-
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
-
AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
-
CPI certification will be required starting January 2026
-
Cerner charting system experience required
-
Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
-
Skilled in administration of blood/blood products, CVC/PICC line maintenance, and starting/maintaining peripheral IVs
-
Experience with medications including anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, and oxytocin required
-
Skilled in newborn assessment, cord care, discharge teaching, and car seat education
-
Experience with neonatal abstinence syndrome, pain management (opioids, pain assessment), and couplet care required
-
Knowledge of baby-friendly protocols, isolation precautions, phlebotomy, and vaccine administration required
-
At least one professional reference required for consideration

Copies of certifications required for consideration

Provide comprehensive nursing care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum phases
-
Assist with high-risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, and circulating/scrubbing for C-sections
-
Perform fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring, and IUPC placement and calibration
-
Support breastfeeding/lactation and provide newborn hypoglycemia and metabolic screening care
-
Manage pain therapies including epidural anesthesia and IV PCA use
-
Provide postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum assessment and incision care
-
Unit scrub color is navy blue
-
Completion of required HealthStream education modules is expected prior to and throughout the assignment, with candidates responsible for monitoring email for new assignments and meeting all deadlines

First-time travelers will be considered pending facility review of experience
