PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Elite Gaming Coach (EGL) will implement the Elite Gaming Live program for 6th - 8th-grade youth who are interested in esports activities and associated careers. EGL will implement the esports program that will:
- Use youths’ love of video games to fuel their learning.
- Provide exploration of real careers in STEM that are aligned with youth interests.
- Support the development of skills such as sportsmanship, teamwork, effort, resilience, and other skills developed by traditional athletes.
HOURS: Monday – Friday 3:00 – 6:00
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Providing structure, guidance, and supervision to members.
- Planning and implementing Elite Gaming Live program at the Club.
- Coaching and mentoring club members in competitive gaming, offering expertise in specified Esports games (e.g., Smash Bros., Rocket League, Mario Kart, Fortnite, League of Legends) and competitions.
- Assisting in promoting and recruiting participants for Elite Gaming Live programming, including special events and tournaments.
- Ensuring the maintenance and safety of Elite Gaming Live equipment.
- Tracking attendance and outcomes of Elite Gaming Live programming.
- Promoting the conduct, safety, and positive development of Club members.
- Ensuring that Elite Gaming Live programming achieves target goals, objectives, and deliverables.
- Monitoring and evaluating program achievement against targeted BGCMR outcomes.
- Attending weekly staff meetings, professional development (PD), and trainings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of two years’ work experience with middle school age youth and teens
- Ability to implement curriculum and offerings in esports activity areas.
- Ability to problem-solve when issues may arise related to programming.
- Ability to use assessments for accountability, evaluation, and program improvement.
- Willingness to learn and be coached as well as mentor and coach the teens.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, take initiative, and communicate effectively among team members.
- Ability to work on a team toward a common goal, get along with peers, and maintain a positive and constructive attitude.
