Position Summary:
Provides direct support to instructor in supervision of a group of children at a School’s out site. Provides a quality experience to children and their families in accordance with Department of Early Education and Care regulations as well as MetroWest YMCA philosophy, policies, and practices. School’s Out focuses on ensuring that students have an opportunity to create, learn, and belong. Core components to the afternoon include: A health snack, physical activity, an enrichment activity, and time for homework to be completed or assistance with.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Engage and assist in supervising a group of children using positive guidance and support.
2. Assist with planning and implementing program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA priorities.
3. Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
4. Attend staff meetings and participate in, as well as record, required trainings in accordance to individual professional development plan and EEC regulations.
5. Follow YMCA and EEC policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, emergencies,
6. Maintain positive relations with children, families, host school personnel, and other staff. Model relationship-building skills in all interactions.
Qualifications:
· Must be 16 years or older.
· High school degree in progress or equivalent(Must be able to provide proof of ongoing education through transcripts/report cards
· Previous experience working with children in a structured or licensed setting preferred
· Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: education, psychology, recreational games, outdoor education, child development, etc.
· Compliance with EEC licensing regulations.
· Previous experience with diverse populations preferred
Physical Demands:
· Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions, to safely engage with children, and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
· Being able to physically stand and walk around for extended periods of time
