Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a head high school swim coach. The ideal candidate will be passionate about swimming and committed to fostering a positive, competitive environment for student-athletes. This position involves coaching students of varying skill levels, promoting teamwork, and helping athletes improve their swimming techniques and performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement training plans and practice schedules for the swim team.
- Coach athletes during practices and competitions, providing guidance on techniques, strategies, and sportsmanship.
- Monitor and assess individual athlete performance, offering constructive feedback and encouragement.
- Collaborate with other coaching staff and school administration to promote the swim program and ensure compliance with school policies and regulations.
- Organize and oversee swim meets, including scheduling, logistics, and communication with parents and athletes.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages teamwork, respect, and personal growth.
- Maintain accurate records of athlete attendance, performance, and progress throughout the season.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes during practices and competitions.
- Engage with parents and guardians to provide updates on team activities and individual athlete performance.
Requirements
- Previous competitive swimming experience, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
- Prior coaching experience is preferred but not required; strong leadership and communication skills are essential.
- Knowledge of swim techniques, training methodologies, and competitive strategies.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their personal best.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, particularly during the swim season.
- A commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes.
