Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic School Bus Driver to ensure the safe and reliable transportation of students to and from school and related activities. This vital role involves operating school buses with professionalism, maintaining a positive attitude, and fostering a safe environment for children and staff alike. As a School Bus Driver, you will be the friendly face students see each day, demonstrating excellent communication skills, mechanical knowledge, and a strong commitment to safety. Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure mechanical safety and cleanliness.
- Manage behavior effectively, creating a positive environment for students during transit.
- Communicate clearly with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers in English or multilingual as needed.
- Assist students with special needs or those requiring childcare support, including paratransit services if applicable.
- Maintain accurate logs of routes, student attendance, and safety checks.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations or incidents on the bus, coordinating with emergency responders when necessary.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a school bus endorsement.
- Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving roles; experience with children is highly preferred.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities.
- Knowledge of driving safety procedures, mechanical basics, and behavior management techniques.
- Ability to work flexible hours during school days and handle emergency situations calmly.
- Experience working with children or in childcare environments is desirable; patience and empathy are essential.
