Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and results-driven Director of Sales to lead the sales efforts for our hotel near Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
This is a key leadership position for someone who understands hotel sales, local account development, corporate travel, airline and airport-related business, group bookings, sports teams, government accounts, construction crews, extended-stay business, and meeting-room sales.
This is not an entry-level position and is not intended for applicants who are simply applying to random jobs. We are looking for a serious hospitality sales professional who can build relationships, generate measurable revenue, and take ownership of the hotel’s sales performance.
Key Responsibilities
The Director of Sales will be responsible for:
- Developing and executing the hotel’s sales strategy
- Identifying and securing new corporate, group, airline, government, crew, sports, wedding, and extended-stay accounts
- Prospecting through phone calls, emails, property visits, community networking, and outside sales calls
- Building relationships with local businesses, travel managers, event planners, hospitals, universities, construction companies, transportation companies, and airport-related organizations
- Responding to group leads, preparing proposals, negotiating rates, and completing sales agreements
- Managing room blocks, group contracts, cutoff dates, pickup reports, and account follow-up
- Conducting hotel tours and client presentations
- Maintaining an organized sales pipeline and documenting all account activity
- Following up consistently with potential and existing clients
- Reviewing market demand, competitor pricing, compression dates, citywide events, and local business activity
- Working closely with the General Manager, Revenue Management, Front Office, and Operations teams
- Participating in revenue meetings and recommending pricing or inventory strategies
- Monitoring account production and ensuring negotiated accounts are generating expected room nights
- Rebuilding inactive accounts and identifying lost-business opportunities
- Attending local networking events, chamber events, trade shows, and community meetings when beneficial
- Creating weekly sales activity reports, production reports, and account action plans
- Supporting hotel occupancy, average daily rate, RevPAR, and overall revenue goals
- Representing the hotel professionally in all client and community interactions
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- Previous hotel sales experience, preferably as a Director of Sales, Sales Manager, or Area Sales Manager
- A strong understanding of hotel operations, room inventory, rate strategy, group sales, and account management
- Proven experience developing new business instead of relying only on incoming leads
- Strong prospecting, negotiation, presentation, and closing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work independently and remain accountable for results
- Strong organizational skills and attention to follow-up
- Experience preparing sales proposals, contracts, and account production reports
- A professional appearance and confident client-facing presence
- Reliable transportation for outside sales calls and local networking
- The ability to work on-site and maintain a consistent presence at the hotel
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, email, spreadsheets, CRM systems, and hotel sales platforms
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Experience selling hotels in the DFW Airport, Irving, Las Colinas, Grapevine, Arlington, or Dallas markets
- Existing relationships with local corporate, airline, transportation, construction, government, or group-travel accounts
- Experience with Wyndham-branded hotels
- Knowledge of hotel revenue management and competitive market analysis
- Experience with platforms such as Cvent, MeetingBroker, MeetingSelect, HotelPlanner, Lanyon, Agency360, Demand360, or similar systems
- Experience managing high-volume group business and negotiated corporate accounts
- A documented history of meeting or exceeding sales goals
Performance Expectations
The selected candidate will be expected to:
- Produce consistent and verifiable sales activity
- Generate qualified leads and convert them into booked business
- Maintain an active pipeline of corporate and group opportunities
- Complete regular outside sales calls and client visits
- Provide accurate weekly updates on leads, follow-ups, production, and results
