Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks with manual transmissions, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Drive route-specific deliveries, including freight that requires load & unload procedures at multiple stops.
- Handle various types of freight such as refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and other specialized cargo.
- Load and unload cargo using forklifts or other equipment when necessary, ensuring secure handling of all items.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to guarantee vehicle safety and compliance with DOT standards.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance records.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve issues promptly.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving with a focus on commercial driving regulations and safety protocols.
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission trucks with expertise in tractor-trailer combinations.
- Familiarity with specialized equipment such as forklifts for loading/unloading freight or dump trucks for bulk materials.
- Ability to drive route-specific vehicles including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, roll-off trucks, and dump trucks.
- Strong understanding of load securement techniques for various cargo types to ensure safety during transit.
- Excellent navigation skills for route planning and efficient delivery scheduling.
