About the Role:
Our Field Safety Specialist is a non-union field based role that plays a critical part in keeping our crews safe, compliant, and confident on the job. This role is primarily field based, requiring you to spend most of your time on-site with crews, supervisors, and project leaders. Your focus will be on promoting safe work practices and ensuring full compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, Rauhorn Electric and customer standards.
We are seeking a safety professional with strong OSHA knowledge, construction and utility safety experience, and a passion for training and coaching. You will be hands-on in conducting site audits, creating and leading safety training, observing work practices, and partnering with leadership to proactively identify and reduce risk. Success in this role requires the ability to build trust in the field, clearly communicate expectations, and positively influence behavior through education and engagement.
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Review safety training and recommend revisions, improvements, and updates.
- Provide relevant safety and compliance training within all business departments.
- Conduct safety inspections, observations, and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Perform daily safety audit.
- In partnership with SRC Manager, ensure open audit items are followed up in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all incidents are documented, investigated and closed.
- Assist department leaders with developing corrective action documents based on safety issues.
- Develop professional safety relationships internally and externally and participate in industry peer meetings and/or professional organizations.
Requirements:
- 3+ years’ experience in safety role in construction (utility emphasis preferred).
- Knowledge of Federal and State safety regulations.
- Current OSHA 30 certification required, OSHA 500 preferred.
- CHST and/or CUSP or other equivalent certification preferred.
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate effectively with, persuade, and gain buy-in from a broad range of stakeholders from a new crew to senior executive leader.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Must have organization, attention to detail, flexibility, and strong ability to multi-task.
- Highly self-motivated with exceptional time management skills.
- Must embrace a team based, initiative driven environment.
- Must possess a level of technical expertise.
