Duties
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and medical assessments of pediatric patients across outpatient and inpatient settings
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses specific to children, including infectious diseases, developmental disorders, and behavioral health issues
- Develop personalized care plans that incorporate preventive measures such as immunizations and health education
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, specialists in psychiatry, cardiology, endocrinology, neonatology, and other fields to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or EMR systems to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently
- Perform procedures such as suturing, administering IV infusions, managing airway emergencies, and providing neonatal ventilator support when necessary
- Educate parents and caregivers on child health topics, growth milestones, nutrition, medication administration, and safety practices
- Stay current with advancements in pediatric medicine through clinical research participation and ongoing professional development
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of pediatric physiology, medical terminology, and clinical evaluation techniques
- Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms for documentation and patient management
- Experience with medical imaging modalities relevant to pediatrics including CT scans and diagnostic radiology techniques
- Strong understanding of specialized areas such as neonatology, pediatric critical & intensive care, neuropsychology, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, immunology, oncology, sleep medicine, infectious disease care, behavioral health, and family medicine
- Ability to perform complex procedures including catheterization (vascular interventional radiography), wound care (suturing), gastrostomy management (ostomy care), hyperbaric medicine applications, and post-operative care
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques including vital signs monitoring and triage procedures in both outpatient clinics and hospital environments
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient records while maintaining compliance with healthcare standards
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and for providing clear guidance to families
- Experience working in hospital settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers is preferred but not mandatory
