Responsibilities
- Answer, screen, and route incoming phone calls professionally and courteously.
- Greet patients and complete check-in/check-out procedures using the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Verify patient demographics and insurance information.
- Obtain patient signatures and ensure all required paperwork is completed.
- Collect copays and other patient payments while processing transactions accurately.
- Notify providers of patient arrivals and communicate delays or scheduling changes.
- Schedule appointments, procedures, and additional services as needed.
- Obtain referrals, authorizations, eligibility verification, and other required documentation.
- Maintain adequate office supplies by monitoring inventory and notifying management of ordering needs.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Provide coverage for evening and weekend hours when needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff to support daily office operations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Office Administration program or
- At least 6 months of Medical Receptionist experience, or
- At least 1 year of clerical experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
