Duties:
- Test drive vehicles and test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.
- Perform repairs on diesel commercial vehicles to include but not be limited to tractor trailers, tankers and Hot Oil trucks.
- Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers' performance specifications.
- Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes.
- Replace tires.
- Perform DOT inspections on commercial vehicles.
- Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
- Confer with drivers to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems and to discuss work to be performed and future repair requirements.
- Maintain workplace cleanliness.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties an assigned.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or similar role
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines and vehicle systems
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent customer service skills
Technology Skills
Data base user interface and query software —Record keeping software; Vehicle management software
Information retrieval or search software — Online service manual database software; Technical manual database software
Spreadsheet software — Microsoft Excel
