This position manages multiple UT technology projects on behalf of the Office of Information Technology (OIT), which are complex, large scale, and highly visible. It contributes to continual improvement of the project management process and develops project plans within constraints of schedule, budget, quality, resources, risk, and scope. This position may work independently on assignments that are very complex or strategic in nature. This position will frequently focus on both short- and long-term strategies. This position works with OIT management and, at times, UT departments and/or other UT campuses, to allocate resources to projects. It also evaluates project budgets and schedules; communicates progress to project team members and stakeholders; adapts to accommodate actual performance; and identifies, tracks, and aids in the resolution of project issues. In addition, this position maintains and administers the project and portfolio management (PPM) system; mentors and trains other staff on project management and the PPM tool; research, recommends, and implements project methodology & process improvements; authors and maintains documentation; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience:
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as a technical IT project manager in the telecommunications industry with experience managing IT projects such as data wiring, fiber optics, 802.11(x) wireless, construction,
- Experience and education equivalent to the PMI Project Management Professional credential are required.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Time management and analytical skills
- Broad working knowledge of all three disciplines within the OIT Communications group: Voice, data and video.
Excellent written and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Certified PMP
- Experience: Minimum four years’ experience in large scale enterprise IT communications design.

- Knowledge of information technology, information systems, IT Construction methodology and project management via formal education.
- Knowledge of software development & implementation, system building & integration.
Knowledge of Higher Education and large IT enterprise environments.
